Use caution when riding on Red Bank & Schott Rd, detour has placed heavy traffic on both roads, very impatient drivers trying to pass on blind hills.

Smothers Road at Harlem Road Roundabout Construction to Begin

Franklin County, Ohio --- Dean C. Ringle, P.E., P.S., Franklin County Engineer, announces that the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Smothers Road and Harlem Road in Delaware and Franklin counties is set to begin June 26, 2013 and last until November 2013, weather permitting.




The reconfiguration will include the construction of a single lane roundabout at the intersection of Smothers Road and Harlem Road. Roadway improvements will be limited to the immediate area of the intersection.

The intersection will be closed for construction on or about June 26, 2013, for approximately 90 days. The posted detour route for Northbound motorists on Harlem Road will follow Walnut Street west to Schott Road (Red Bank Road), north to Gorsuch Road, and east to Harlem Road. Southbound motorists will follow the same detour in the opposite direction. Southbound to Westbound motorists will follow Gorsuch Road west to Red Bank Road and south to Smothers Road. Eastbound to northbound motorists will follow the same detour in the opposite direction. Northbound to Westbound motorists will follow Harlem Road to Walnut Street, west to Schott Road, and north to Smothers Road. Eastbound to southbound motorists will follow the same detour in the opposite direction.

The Franklin County Engineer's Office will supervise the building of this $3 million roundabout project by Strawser Paving Co., Inc. Funding will be provided by the Ohio Public Works Commission, Delaware County, and Franklin County.
